Aquilo: A Safe Place To Be

Postcard Models was commissioned by Studio Charlie Drinkwater to recreate a miniature model of Silverdale, inspired by Aquilo’s memories of growing up in the small Lake District village. In March, we visited Silverdale to capture extensive reference photos of the high street, ensuring an authentic representation in N-scale.

To bring the village to life, we used a combination of techniques, including clay carving for the walls and buildings, and 3D printing for key landmarks like the ‘Pepperpot’ monument and the millennium clock. The buildings were meticulously designed using our research trip images, drawn to scale, and crafted from plywood and mount card. The model reflects the narrative of Ben and Tom’s upbringing in Silverdale, with a hint of their experiences in LA.
