Who we are:
A family business based in Kent founded in 2016, Postcard Models officially launched in 2018. Our family team is made up of a range of skills, from engineering to illustration and design. We make all our models and kits from scratch, using various methods including lasercutting, 3D printing and casting. Postcard Models was born out of the ambition to recreate childhood memories in miniature form. Building inspiration from British architecture and our surroundings - every day life inspires us.
Emily graduated from Camberwell College of Arts with a degree in Illustration. She designs, packages and creates scenics for our models. She believes that observation is key, noticing all those tiny details from village shop signs to flora and fauna.
David is a part time classic car restorer / part time model designer. He designs and engineers all our tiny models down to a very accurate tea.
Jane fits making models in between her busy life of job juggling and looking after her grandchildren.
What we do:
We offer a range of services from precision lasercutting to 3D scanning and printing. We design everything from scratch, but having an image of a building or object is always a good starting point.
Our step by step development process:
Design your building using CAD software
Deconstruct your building into parts, ready to be taken into kit or assembled form
The building will be prototyped, assembled to find any adjustments
Adjusting and redesigning to ensure the perfect fit!
Complete model is assembled and decorated
Model is developed into kit form with instructions and bespoke packaging designed
Bespoke model making service:
We also design and produce models and kits based on a building of your choice. We sell of number of kits to the following clients: Hastings Contemporary, Garden Museum, John Hansard Gallery, Manchester Art Gallery, 4D Model Shop, Foundland, Weald and Downland Museum, Nottingham Contemporary, Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway and Deal Maritime Local History Museum
