What equipment do I need to build your model kits?
Sharp scalpel or craft knife
Cutting mat - this helps with ensuring your building is square.
Tweezers
PVA or wood glue - don’t use superglue!
Cocktail sticks - they give a fine point for applying glue
A selection of arylic paints (we use Vellejo arylic model paints)
Posca pens - a great alternative to regular paint. Easy to apply and great coverage, especially for smaller parts like windows on oilcard.
Some of our models require lightweight filler. You can buy this in any DIY shop.
How difficult are your kits to put together?
We have a range of kits that are suitable for those who are new to model making. We have different diffcultites applied to each of our model kits under the descriptions. If you are new to making models, we suggest starting with an ‘easy’ model first. Beginnner model makers may also find ‘N-scale’ easier to complete.
Some models, such as Peckham Shops and Preston Shop require more experience. But if you like a challenge, give them a go!
When assembling the models, what tips could be helpful?
Use the squares on your cutting mat to ensure your model is straight
Use a new blade on your scalpel to ensure clean cuts
Allow things to dry before you move onto the next step
Use a nail file to clean up any 3D printed pieces
Follow and read instructions fully
Take your time and enjoy it!
