Essential Equipment for Assembling Our Model Kits *
To build our model kits, you'll need the following tools and materials:
Sharp scalpel or craft knife – for precise cutting.
Cutting mat – helps keep your cuts straight and ensures your building stays square.
Tweezers – useful for handling small parts.
PVA or wood glue – you can also use superglue
Cocktail sticks – perfect for applying small amounts of glue with precision.
Acrylic paints – we recommend Vallejo acrylic model paints for excellent coverage.
Posca pens – a great alternative to traditional paint, especially for detailing small parts like windows on oil card.
Lightweight filler – required for some models, available at most DIY stores.
With these tools, you'll be well-equipped to bring your model to life!
How difficult are your kits to put together?
We offer a range of model kits suitable for all skill levels, including beginners. Each kit is labeled with a difficulty rating in the description to help you choose the right one.
If you're new to model making, we recommend starting with an ‘easy’ kit. Many beginners also find N-scale models easier to assemble.
Some kits, like Peckham Shops and Preston Shops, require more experience, but if you're up for a challenge, give them a try!
When assembling the models, what tips could be helpful?
Use the squares on your cutting mat to keep your model straight and aligned.
Always use a fresh scalpel blade for clean, precise cuts.
Let glue dry completely before moving on to the next step to ensure a strong hold.
Smooth out any rough edges on 3D printed pieces with a nail file for a polished finish.
Read and follow the instructions carefully to avoid mistakes.
Take your time, enjoy the process, and have fun building!
